Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

Deep Dish Deliciousness

There is hardly anything that says Southern better than peaches and no better peach serving than a dish of warm peach cobbler. Many variations of this mouth-watering cobbler exist from right-out-of-the-box mixes to an all 1s ratio to a biscuit topping to a dumpling crust. Whether you bake it in a deep dish or serve it in a deep dish, it will always turn out the same: deep dish deliciousness!

April 13...
National Peach Cobbler Day

Peach Cobbler Day goes back to the 50s when the Georgia Peach Council named it as a means to sell more canned peaches. Since then fresh peaches have been used extensively. You don't even have to be extra careful peeling and slicing the peaches. The rougher they look the more cobbled the cobbler appears!
Three Food Finds About Cobbler
  • A cobbler is a deep-dish fruit pie covered with a thick crust made from biscuit dough.
  • This delicious dessert originated in the American West during the 19th century.
  • Although for many years people did not consider cobbler fashionable enough to serve to guests, it has now earned a permanent place in the pantheon of American desserts.
The best way to celebrate is to bake & eat peach cobbler!
