A bit of soup nostalgia . . .
The origins
of Homemade Soup Day are lost in time but you don’t need to know how it
started to celebrate the day. Certain soups are traditional to
particular areas, such as Borsht in Eastern Europe or the well-known
Italian soup, Minestrone. Unusually, the famous Spanish dish Gazpacho,
is generally eaten cold, making it perfect for summer. Of course, there is nothing much better to warm the bones in winter than a piping hot bowl of vegetable soup or chili.

Remember the inscription: Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these
couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds? I call that dedication! Of course, while technology contends with cyber ghosts, Mother Nature often denies our mail carriers unstoppable rounds! It’s hard work delivering the mail day in, day out, come rain or shine.
Do we really want it to come to this?
Give me
the few pieces of junk mail in my mail box on a regular basis over the
thousands of spam messages received daily via e-mail!
