I remember college I started in 68 and graduated in 72. First day on campus I wore a mini skirt that my mom had made me. She made all my clothes but that one was special as my parents were very reserved. I loved bell bottom pants, the beattles and rock and roll. Hayley Mills was my idol and Connie Francis was my sister's idol. But then there was Elvis, the beach boys and oh so many others. Being in college we didn't have time for much but studying but it was a new adventure in our life. While others were off doing peace marches we were studying. We worried about the draft, draft card burning and who would cross the Canadian border. You were lucky if you were in College you were given an education deferment. If not for that my fiancee would have gone right away as his number was like 10. He never would have survived the Vietnam war. He was too much of a momma's boy. We were one of the first generations that parents could see their kids going to college and be proud as most were lucky to finish high school before us. My how time's have changed.

DeleteSome of the best NY Yankees baseball games ever. Joe Frazier beats Mohammed Ali. People magazine. Gas lines, odd and even days, green and red flags. Those tanks better be under 1/2 and only $3.00 worth allowed! Small cars. The World Trade Center opens. Philippe Petit tightropes across the towers. I graduated high school in 1974 and moved to Texas. Flew on Braniff, very colorful planes. George Willig, the Human Fly, scales the south tower of the World Trade Center and is fined $1.10. It brought tourism to an ailing NYC. Movies: The Seven Ups, Dog Day Afternoon, The Godfather. The Carpenters, Hall and Oates, Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. Yes, those were the days.
